Formerly a top fashion model who was 5'10'' tall, Carey was popular with the top American designers, including Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. In 1979 the Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists elected her dad Scientist of the Year. Carey was raised throughout the world as a consequence of her father's work. While in college when she was modeling in a part-time capacity and caught the eye of Ford model Agency representatives in New York. She briefly lived and studied in Paris after which she returned to New York. Her modeling as well as her college career took off and she appeared on Glamour's, Vogue's and many other magazine covers. In between her modeling assignments she was also a full-time student obtaining a major in literature at New York University. After a while, she developed an passion for acting. She studied at Neighborhood Playhouse New York. She began her acting career through a tiny part in the film 'Club Paradise' in 1986 with Robin Williams. In her spare time, she enjoys skiing, windsurfing, climbing rocks and whitewater river rafting.
